My dear friends, the institution of the Sunday of Mercy on the eighth day of the Easter Octave is linked to the Resurrection and how this momentous event in Christian history procures the devotion of Mercy and Love of God towards His beloved creation, who is now His children.

To end our Flores de Mayo celebration, it is time to ask ourselves what it really means to be Christian. It is appropriate now that we measure the simplicity of our Christian living – how we are more inclined to goodness and practice of love than just mere spoken or acted belief. The whole point of having the Flores de Mayo celebration is to recalibrate everyone back to the Christian life that can be practiced by every faithful, even in the simplest of ways yet enveloped with profound love to God and to our brothers and sisters.

While we all do our part in staying safe and following health protocols, may we not also forget the importance of prayer in today’s challenges. Let us all pray for our health and wellbeing as much as we wanted to get through this crisis.

Let a strong brotherly love reign among us so that what happened in the Church will also occur in our Congregation. Besides the apostles there were seventy-two disciples, deacons, and other evangelical co-workers; they all worked in harmony with each other, all bound together, firmly united in love. That is why they succeeded, as they did, in changing the face of the earth; so too, with us. Wherever we may be, whatever tasks may be assigned to us, let us strive to save souls, and above all, our own. Do that, and it is enough.
